Brainstorm Session: Facilitation Case Study
Brainstorming contributes great value when findings are both reported and enacted. One client participated in brainstorming for a reason everyone understands and realizes: We need some newer approaches to doing business – in this case, addressing the phenomenon of two people making a purchasing decision jointly instead of just one.
Brainstorming
We began by having participants brainstorming onto flip chart pages – how would we better serve two-decision-maker purchasers? About thirty ideas were generated this way.
The Situation Sort
Everyone took the various approaches identified and grouped them according to specific purchasing situations – in person, on line and over the phone.
Environment Action Planning
We took some time out to review and revise the ideas that were collected for each situation, so we could develop Action Plans for personnel working in stores, over the company Web site and in call centers.
Results
Everyone, no matter in which corporate environment they worked, had an Action Plan to more effectively sell to two-person purchasers.
